All in all, it was a terrific day. I felt like shit this morning once the initial hype of the video camera wore off because I hadn't been able to eat much for breakfast. So of course by the time we ate at about noon at Justin's nonna's I was about ready to die and my stomach had probably shrunk to the size of a golf ball. But anyway, back tracking. We (Justin and I) arrived at his house around 10:30 where I handed out my presents and videotaped everyone. We headed off to the cemetary to pay our respects to Sam (Justin's nonno who passed away early this year) where we left flowers, a card and emptied a can of beer into the grass and then we headed over to his nonna's. By the time everyone was there we had all reached freezing point in the dining room (due to Julia's terrific air con) and were quite ready to eat. All up I'd say there were about 20 people. Maybe a few more. There was all of us (Heather, Vic, Kira, Amy, Zoe, Justin and I), then Abe and Silvana, Charles and Anita, Anthony, Nonna, old Nonna, then Vera and her family and one other family. Justin's cousin, Jessica, was there. Mate, she's your classic little snobby rich girl. She definately looks Italian and I must say she was wearing a gorgeous top and she had a reasonably pretty face (under the piles of makeup). Her hair was beautiful (exactly what I am aiming for) however her fire engine red skirt with an alarmingly high split was a little more than austentatious, which was also evenly matched by the pair of 6 inch prositute-look-alive shoes she was wearing. Hardly what I'd wear to an Italian Christmas family lunch. I wrinkled my nose when I saw her and Justin made a comment which fit closely to what I thought of her. Even though she was his cousin, I made sure to keep myself close to Justin and all possible times.

I talked to Justin about her when I got home because she did have a very pretty face (although it looked slightly strange) and her hair was gorgeous. I asked him if he thought she was attractive and of course he denied it full heartedly. I asked if she was prettier than me which is a stupid question really, because what decent boyfriend would be stupid enough to agree that his cousin looked better than his long term girlfriend. Haha, certainly not Justin. He did say something genuinely thoughtful though, which struck me. He goes, "You can look casually beautiful, beautiful without even trying. Not like her with all the makeup. Do you know what I mean?" (Or words to that effect). And I was like *sigh* yes I do, thankyou :). It made a wonderful day seem even brighter.

I managed to eat a fair amount today. Like I said I was starving when we arrived at Nonna's, but I knew I'd gone too long without food so I couldn't just start stuffing my face when we walked in otherwise I'd vomit it all back up again, straight away. Nooo thankyou. So I nibbled on a couple of pieces of pork crackling which settled my stomach before the main meal of ravioli, followed by a buffet like selection of cold meats, salad and olives and other bits and pieces. I managed half a small bowl of ravioli, a substantial amount of salad and a little bit of pork. After that I started feeling full but not bloated full. I wouldn't let myself get that full otherwise I'd start feeling sick and then I'd have a panic attack about vomiting and probably MAKE myself sick. So I just relaxed and took it slowly. Much to my disappointment, I turned down several scrumptious looking desserts and glasses of wine. What's Christmas without wine? There was even this delish smelling strawberry wine there... *sigh*. So folorn. Eventually I gave in and took two of the smallest (1" by 1") pieces of caramel slice and that was enough to make me feel reasonably sick. I panicked in the car on the way home because I felt more than rather icky and was no where near a window. It was mainly the window situation (or lack thereof) that made me panic. I felt trapped. Like I'd have to vomit all over myself and everyone else if I was going to be sick. *mel shudders*.

So I got a fair amount of filming done, about half an hours worth, but hardly anything worthy of an Academy Award. I wanted to show Mum and Dad the lunch at Nonna's mainly. And we also got some BEAUTIFUL family shots on Nonna's lawn. Really nice ones, I can't wait to see them!

Anyway, I am ABsolutely shattered! I went to bed late and woke up very early (both on an empty stomach) and today has been hot and generally exhausting as it is. Bed time for me soon. So glad I didn't follow the party on and have dinner at Chris and Carol's as well *sigh*. I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas as much as I did. I was thoroughly spoiled and generally speaking had a good day (apart from having to decline so much food and wine!). Merry Christmas everyone, and a Happy New Year!
